This is me, Lisa. Born and raised Calgarian with a love for all things Cats and Dogs. A mom of a 6 year old daughter, 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog, Rosie; and a 15 year old short haired Cat, Murphy. I obtained my Photography Certificate through the New York Institute of Photography (NYIP) and I am an accredited Photographer through Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC).
Growing up we always had dogs in the house which started my connection with animals. My Grandfather nicknamed me Cat from the time I was little because I thought I was a cat. It wasn't until my 15th birthday that I was allowed to adopt a cat though. My Dad blind folded me and wouldn't tell me where we were going until we car there. When i was finally able to remove the blind fold, we were in the Calgary Humane Society's parking lot. It was all so exciting and mysterious. That day, a grey short haired kitten with piercing yellow eyes joined our family. I named her Molly. She turned out to being my best friend and confidant for the next 13 years. I told her everything.
Murphy joined Molly and I in my mid twenties. He ended up taking over Molly's role after we said goodbye shortly after Murphy's arrival. He fit in so well, it was like he was always there. He has a love hate relationship with dogs but will tolerate their presence. To look at him now, you would never know he is a senior. Murphy is a combination of an old soul with a kitten face.
Ramzi, our 110 lbs Rottweiler joined my husband and I when we bought our very first house together. He became my shadow for the next 7 years. Nothing but a gentle giant with the kindest eyes. He started my journey with Pet Photography. We had to say goodbye to him in 2016 due to uncontrollable seizures. A little bit of my heart broke that day but not enough that we wouldn't celebrate another family member joining us shortly after that.
This year, we get to celebrate Rosie's 2nd birthday. Keeping us on our toes, she has been a great addition to our family. The patience in her continually growing modelling experience is exceeding expectations. She allows me to test new theories and to grow as a photographer. Happy Birthday Little Miss Sunshine!
There is something about having a pet that helps bring calm over our house. They are always there with unconditional love to help us through every day. I would not change anything. We will always have pets in our lives as they help complete our family.
